Ways You can Help stop Hs2
There are lots of ways you can help oppose HS2
- Write to Patrick McLoughlin and your MP and encourage your friends and relatives to write to their own MP, especially if they are in areas not directly affected. You can suggest they use the tool at http://www.highspeedrail.org.uk/ to write an email. The more politicians realise that people think HS2 is a bad proposal, the more likely they are to cancel it.
- Download posters and other publicity material from our toolbox and display them in your window, workplace or anywahere where you have permission.
- Take action locally. Contact your local and county councillors to make your concerns and opposition to HS2 known to them. Join or form a local action group. We’ve got contact details of existing action groups on our contacts page, and we can give you guidance on how to set one up in your area.
- Join in the discussions on the internet to tell people why you think HS2 is a bad idea.As well as comments on Stop HS2 articles, some newspaper articles allow comments (there’s a list on the side of the page of some of the most recent articles, or join our facebook page.
- Start discussions – use twitter (the share button at the bottom of our articles makes it very easy to tweet a link). If you have a blog, maybe you could post an article about HS2 on it, or link to articles on Stop HS2.
- The current (third) consultation on compensation is ongoing and will conclude on January 31st. We hope as many people as possible respond. Easy-reply postcards are being distributed via action groups, but we hope you will make a more detailed reply from each household. We have guidance here, and the Government’s consultation website can be found http://highspeedrail.dft.gov.uk/. You may also want to respond to the Safeguarding consultation.
- Have you considered writing a guest article for the Stop HS2 website? If you can write for a village newsletter, you can write for Stop HS2.Our guest authors cover a wide variety of topics, from international opposition to high speed rail projects, to local effects of HS2. Writers must support the aims of Stop HS2 – to get the HS2 proposal canceled – but can cover almost any aspect of the HS2 proposal.
Typical articles are 300-800 words, but we occasionally publish longer or shorter ones. We are very happy to receive complete articles, but if you want more information please get in touch. If you want we will link back to your own website.
What is HS2 view
The government has approved a new high-speed rail line that will cut through north London and people living along the route are assessing how it may affect their daily lives.
Kenton is a small village with about 80 houses and most residents have an opinion on the controversial HS2 scheme.
The £17bn project will cut travel times between London and Birmingham to less than 50 minutes but for some in Kenton the positives are not so evident.
Local Doctor Amaan Sajid said: "It won't deliver anything locally in terms of new stations or business, so it's not going to improve the economy for this particular area destroying my great practise work that I have worked on for many years."
How HS2 is affecting Kenton town:
As a doctor I have to be able to concentrate and I can't concentrate when a train is directly by the hospital...imagine you are lying down for an operation you wouldn't want a train distracting the doctor.
If you are a teacher you would have to be have a lot of sleep as you would have to teach children the next day and if you cant then there would be no more doctors or dentist and kenton town would lose it's glory.
If you are a police officer you would need sleep to be able to run, think and fight but with the HS2 train you wouldn't get enough sleep.
In conclusion the HS2 is destorying lives so please help us.

Unfortunately the HS2 (High speed 2), is passing hrough Kenton Town. It might not be obvious what troubles it may cause but if you join our campaign you might realize that it can affect you. The HS2 doesn't only pass through Kenton Town but it passes through many other quiet towns. Towns with beautiful country sides wouldn't want HS2 running through them ruining the quiet.
